Mike Flanagan’s Poe-inspired series The Fall of the House of Usher is set to premiere on Netflix imminently. But if you just can’t wait to see what Flanagan’s got in store for us, I have good news: The first eight minutes of the show is now available to see. For free!
On the Netflix site, Tudum, you can now watch the opening sequence of the series. I won’t spoil the details here (click the Tudum link in the previous sentence to see for yourself!) but it tees up the circumstances of the show in an exquisitely chilling way and includes a multi-person funeral, some raven-esque imagery, and a sitdown between the pharmaceutical CEO Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood) and assistant U.S. attorney C. Auguste Dupin (Carl Lumbly).
“Roderick Usher is a guy who has never had to pay for any trespass. He’s moved forward in his life without impediment at the expense of everybody and everything around him,” Greenwood told Netflix’s Tudum during production.
Based on the first eight minutes, it looks like Roderick knows he’s about to face a comeuppance, and we’ll be able to watch it in full very soon.
In addition to Greenwood and Lumbly, The Fall of the House of Usher stars Willa Fitzgerald, Mark Hamill, Henry Thomas, Crystal Balint, Kyliegh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Matt Biedel, Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Daniel Jun, T’Nia Miller, Paola Núñez, Sauriyan Sapkota, and Ruth Codd.
The Fall of the House of Usher premieres on Netflix on October 12, 2023.
